Eisenhower in Gettysburg
New for the 2018-2019 academic year!
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Camp Colt, a tank training camp established on the Gettysburg battlefield during the First World War, the Eisenhower Institute is launching a new program for the Spring 2019 semester. Eisenhower in Gettysburg will provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about Eisenhower's ties to Gettysburg College and the Gettysburg community.
Throughout the semester, students will explore the impact Eisenhower’s time in Gettysburg had on his life and career. Special focus will be placed on Eisenhower’s leadership as a young Army captain at Camp Colt, his response to the public health crisis of the Spanish Influenza in 1918, and the role of his Gettysburg farm during his presidency and beyond. Throughout the program, students will make connections between Eisenhower's leadership and the challenges facing our community and nation today.
