Overview

EI StudentsThe Institute promotes nonpartisan discourse and critical analysis of issues of long-term importance through a variety of initiatives, including its undergraduate programs, which are led by experts in areas ranging from Middle East affairs to the study of environmental policy and presidential leadership.

These programs enhance the academic experience by providing practical connections to topics of study. For example, in the past students have:

  • Learned about environmental issues by studying sustainability in Bonaire
  • Analyzed strategy and leadership by visiting the beaches of Normandy with Susan Eisenhower, the granddaughter of future President Dwight D. Eisenhower, then Supreme Commander of Allied Expeditionary Forces in World War II
  • Studied presidential leadership by working closely with Fred F. Fielding ’61, former White House counsel to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush
  • Visited the Middle East, speaking with those on the ground who experience the impact of global conflict as part of their daily lives

These are only a few examples.
